TAMUCC Only--Grade Problems

posted by Don Berkich on Saturday December 22, @07:36AM
from the snafu dept.

Announcement There has been a problem with grade recording for TAMUCC's Professional Ethics, PHIL 3340.013 section. At least two grades we know of are incorrectly reporting: A "B" is turning up as an "F", and another "B" is now an "I".

It's not clear whether this is a problem with the new Banner system or simply an entry error. In any case, you shouldn't trust your reported grade until you've contacted me directly (email berkich@slash.tamucc.edu).

Steps are being taken to clean up the mess, but as it appears to affect many more than just our section, it may take some time to sort out.

TAMUCC Karma Countdown

posted by Don Berkich on Saturday November 25, @05:04AM
from the and-the-winner-is dept.

Announcement Please note the following deadlines for completing TAMUCC's discussion requirement. Karma is due

  • Monday, 12/11 by noon for graduating seniors;

  • Monday, 12/18 by 5:00 a.m. for all others.

These are the latest deadlines possible. Excepting currently unscored contributions, you should be within 10% of your goal for Karma. Thus if your goal was 72 Karma, the minimum required for an "A" on the discussion portion of your grade, your current Karma should be near 65 (unless, that is, you have substantially many unscored contributions. We plan to have all scoring up to date by Wednesday of this week.)

Finally, students who exceed 80 Karma enter Nirvana. Nirvana points are just like Karma points, except they count as extra credit for the course. At most 20 Nirvana points will be applied to your semester grade, but since they will be applied at the same rate as Karma points (Total Nirvana Points * 6.25), Nirvana points are aptly named.

Students who exceed 100 combined Karma and Nirvana points are of course invited to continue making their valuable contributions as they see fit.
